Every PO, every milestone,
one order book.
A factory, mill, or vendor produces against purchase orders from multiple brand customers, each expecting its own WIP reporting format and cadence. RetailNorthstar gives suppliers a single system for the purchase orders, WIP milestones, and size-level detail of every brand they produce for — one order book and one status flow, instead of a different spreadsheet format per customer.
This page is for the supplier company itself — the factory, the mill, the vendor. Use it to run your own order book, and to work in one shared system with the brand customers who plan on RetailNorthstar.
The production is on schedule. The reporting is the problem.
Most factories track their own WIP well. The friction is the per-brand reporting overhead layered on top of it — a different template, portal, and cadence for every customer.
Every brand customer wants WIP reported in its own template
One brand sends a weekly Excel grid by style and milestone. Another runs a portal with its own status categories. A third wants an email summary every Friday. The production status is the same — the reporting work multiplies with every account, and it lands on your merchandisers, not the sewing floor.
PO amendments arrive by email, and versions drift
A quantity revision lands in a reply-all thread days after fabric is committed. The size breakdown in the attachment does not match the one on the cutting docket. When the brand and the factory each hold a different "latest" PO, the discrepancy surfaces at packing — the most expensive possible moment.
Size breakdowns get re-keyed at every handoff
The style-color-size grid arrives as a PDF, gets re-typed into your own planning sheet, then again into the packing list. Every re-key is a chance for a transposed run — and a size-curve error that ships is a chargeback conversation, not a correction.
Late surprises damage the relationship more than late dates do
A brand can re-plan around a slip flagged at the fabric stage. A slip that surfaces at ex-factory triggers air freight, allocation scrambles, and a scorecard hit. What brands grade over time is not perfection — it is whether your status was accurate when they needed it.
Run your own order book. Meet your brand customers in the same system.
Two ways in, one platform: use RetailNorthstar for your own internal operations, and collaborate directly with any brand customer who plans on it.
Two sides of the same PO — and a page for each.
RetailNorthstar publishes separate pages for the brand side and the supplier side of the production relationship. This page is the supplier side — the external company, not a team inside the brand.
| You Are | Start Here |
|---|---|
| A factory, mill, or vendor producing for apparel brands | This page — RetailNorthstar for your own order book, and for collaborating with brand customers who run it. |
| A production or sourcing team inside an apparel brand | The brand-side pages: For Production Teams and For Sourcing Teams. |
| A sourcing agent or buying office managing vendors for brand clients | The sourcing agents page covers the multi-client, intermediary side of the same workflow. |
Fewer formats. One shared picture.
The strongest reason to bring RetailNorthstar up with the brands you produce for is operational, not promotional. When a brand customer plans and cuts POs on the platform, the size breakdown you produce against is the one they planned, and your status update replaces their reporting template — no email chains or spreadsheet attachments.
Each brand customer on the platform removes one reporting format from your week. If you would like to go further than a recommendation, ask us about partnering when you book a demo.

Questions from factories and vendors
Can a factory or vendor use RetailNorthstar for its own operations?
Yes. Factories, vendors, and sourcing agents can run their own operations on RetailNorthstar — the purchase orders they hold, size-level quantities, WIP milestones by style, and analytics across their brand customers. It is the same platform apparel brands use for planning and buying; there is no separate factory edition. Book a demo and we will walk through it from the vendor side of the order.
What do we see when a brand customer runs RetailNorthstar?
RetailNorthstar provides a vendor collaboration layer where factories and suppliers update production milestones, flag delays, and confirm shipment dates. The brand’s buying team sees those updates in the same system where they manage the buy plan — no email chains or spreadsheet attachments. WIP tracking begins the moment an order is placed, so your updates land against the PO from day one.
Do we need our own ERP to report production status?
No. There are two modes. Factories with their own systems connect through APIs or scheduled imports. Factories without one use a mobile-friendly status update flow — teams typically enter milestone status twice a week. Brands usually integrate their top five to ten vendors over the first few seasons, so it is normal to start with the manual flow and deepen from there.
Does RetailNorthstar replace our factory planning or T&A system?
No. RetailNorthstar is the visibility layer between the factory and the brand’s merchandising plan — it does not run the factory. Your line loading, shop-floor scheduling, and internal production tooling stay yours. RetailNorthstar sits between the factory’s operational tools and the plan, carrying POs, milestones, and status across that boundary.
Do you partner with factories and vendors who recommend RetailNorthstar to brands?
The practical case for recommending RetailNorthstar to your brand customers is operational: one shared picture of POs and WIP instead of a different reporting format per brand. If you would like to go further than a recommendation, ask us about partnering when you book a demo — we will take it from there.
